The nature park Altmuhl River is ideal for a horseback riding vacation or riding holidays. Equestrians and horse lovers will find numerous possibilities for rides and hiking tours by horse. During these, they can enjoy the beautiful landscape with its narrow valleys, cliffy rock walls and wide plateau areas on the Altmuhl River.

The riding estate Petra Gross in Riedenburg-Obereggersberg (near to the 933-egge castle hotel Altmuhl River valley) is especially recommendable. The riding estate does not only offer hiking rides to popular excursion destinations like the monastery Weltenburg on the Donau / Danube River breakthrough, right across Kelheim, but also well trained and experienced riding teachers and well trained horses for the training in the disciplines dressage, jumping, variety and hunting. There are a riding hall and two riding courts available for the riding lessons. The riding estate also owns two wedding coaches.
